About The Artist

Steve Richardson Fine Art
Steve's urge to create art and affinity for nature began in early childhood as he found inspiration in his own backyard and in books about Native American art. His older brother who was a gifted artist and a published cartoonist was his first mentor. At the age of fourteen his adventurous spirit and urge to be on the ocean led him to the commercial fishing industry innovating ways to eliminate by-catch with hook and line methods. In recent years Steve's art spirit has been rekindled and his studies have continued under the guidance of well established artists in week long plein air workshops. In 2010 Steve was selected to study in an intensive masters program with the vice president of the California Art Club & the clubs 2010 Gold Metal Recipient David Gallup. Steve's muse however has always been Mother Nature herself, constantly revealing the true subject of his work, light, color, and atmosphere. It is from his direct observations while painting outdoors that we get a glimpse of that moment when everything ordinary disappears and the beauty and magic is witnessed.
